The 20th Pumba Festival, which was named as the Culture and Tourism Festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for two consecutive years, will be held from May 22-26 at the Seolseong Park area for five days.
The Pumba, which began from a singing beggar strolling about marketplaces, contains a mixture of humor, satire and laughter.

 

The Eumseong Pumba Festival started with a beautiful purpose.

The festival contains the noble love for mankind and spirit of philanthropy of the late Choi Gwi-dong, who is revered as a 'St beggar'. Choi Gwi-dong, who disabled, toured the village and provided meals to beggars who could not even beg for food. This was the chance for setting up the 'Kot-dong-ne'. He also donated his eyes to give the beauty of the world to a person.


The Federation of Artistic and Culture Organization of Eumseong decided to hold the Pumba Festival to emulate his noble intentions in 2000. This festival featuring his noble spirit can discover the spirit of realizing a beautiful society through love, sharing, peace and service in a tough world. The official said "The festival will be continualy held to inherit 'Hope and Love', a modern interpretation of Pumba".

This year, the festival organized a new program to further diversify its attractions.
