2019 Jangseong Hwangnyong river Yellow Flower Festival will be held from Oct. 1 to 13 at the Hwangryong riverfront (public stadium) in Jangseong-gun, South Jeolla Province. Under the slogan "Color, Light and Story," and "Yellow City I Want to Go, Hwangryong River I Want to Walk," Jangseong-gun is ready to welcome Korean and foreign tourists.
The festival will be held for 13 days, starting with the opening ceremony to be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 1. It is going to carry out and promote unique programs and oxygen festivals along with 1 billion Hwangnyong river flow paths, exhibitions, experiences, and cultural events.
Jangseong Hwangnyong river Yellow Flower Festival is a flamboyant autumn flower festival where is held at the Hwangryong river as the longest flowering river in South Korea (3.2 kilometres). Jangseong-gun is determined to promote the Yellow City Jangseong through the festival and establish itself as a regional tourism and economic activity festival and a representative autumn festival.
The main event of festival includes the theme garden (Baek Il-hong, Hwanghwa Cosmos, Sunflower), point flower sculpture (Dress Garden, You & I garden, Iove Jangseong), exhibition events such as the Gourd Tunnel, Bonsai and Wildlife Exhibition, the opening ceremony, Jangseong Golden Food Show, Garden Farm, Writing Tournament, and Korean Traditional Music Contest, Parrot Exhibition, Flowering planting and Yellow market, etc.
The highlight of the festival is the view of 1 billion autumn flowers, including Cosmos, Baek Il-hong, Pink Muli and Sunflower, which bloom in the garden against the backdrop of the Hwangryong river.
Cosmos: The representative flower of autumn, which means beautiful in Greek, is blooming in many colours such as white, pink, purple and so on.
Baek Il-hong: Also called "Baekilcho," which means flowers bloom in red for a hundred days, visitors are greeted by a variety of beautiful colours such as red, pink, yellow and white, except for green and sky blue.
Pinkmuli: Although native grass grows on plains in warm regions of the western or central United States, it is widely cultivated for landscaping purposes worldwide. Blue leaves in summer, pink in fall, purple adds beauty.
Sunflowers: Flowers bloom from August to September and fall on their sides with one at the end of a branch, but especially in sunny places, they grow well within 2 meters of height and have bristles.
Jangseong Hwangnyong river Yellow Flower Festival, which has become a national festival with nearly 1 million people in attendance for the second consecutive year, is also expected to attract many foreigners, including Chinese tourists, to celebrate National Day this year. To this end, Jangseong-gun prepared to welcome tourists with all his efforts to refurbish the Hwangryong river, the most beautiful flower river in Korea.
Especially, for the Yellow Flower Festival, the county people were the main actors and made the festival together from flower plants to the opening ceremony. Various related agencies and residents participated to create the Sunflower Garden in Hwangmir land, and the opening ceremony of the Armed Forces Day and the opening ceremony of the festival will be held at the same time so that all residents can become the main characters, boast of their united power, and enjoy the festival together.
Along with a feast of yellow flowers embroidered with the Hwangnyong river, various attractions and performances for visitors from home and abroad are also waiting. Various events, including a parrot special hall where visitors can experience rare parrots in the world, a busking performance on the streets and a garden farm fair in the farming and rural areas, will offer visitors something to see and experience.
The venue is full of food. The restaurant will be equipped with a golden cooking food show that appeals to tourists’ taste. Not only local restaurant that offers a strong taste for the hometown but also a simple meal and food truck, which will excite visitors to various food items.
During the festival, meaningful events such as the "Jangseong Pilamseowon's celebration of UNESCO's World Heritage List" and the "An Oxygen Festival on Mount Chukryeong" will be held simultaneously. Governance sunflower plants will also be promoted, which is expected to be a more meaningful festival.
No need to be disappointed that we didn't participate in the festival. The beautiful scenery of the Hwangnyong river and various activities continue for another seven days after it finishes. The Autumn outing event is being prepared for visitors who were unable to enjoy the festival for seven days from Oct. 14-20.
In particular, the festival will reinforce the transportation infrastructure. Fast and convenient KTX trains will stop at Jangseong Station from Sept. 16 when the Chuseok holiday ends, making it easier for visitors from home and abroad to find the fortress.
KTX, which runs through Mokpo-Gwangju-Songjeong-Jangseong-Kimje-Iksan-Seodajeon-Yongsan (Seoul), started booking tickets on July 16. The stop at Jangseong runs four times a day at 12:20 p.m. to Mokpo, 7:55 p.m., 6:29 a.m. to Yongsan and 5:42 p.m. In the Seoul metropolitan area, it is more convenient to visit Jangseong and the festival.

The 2019 Jangseong Hwangryong river Yellow Flower Festival will be hosted by Jangseong-gun and organized by the Jangseong County Festival Committee.
